Kathmandu— Nepal Telecom has issued a public advisory urging its customers to stay alert against fraudulent messages that are being circulated through mobile networks. The company said that several users have reported receiving text messages containing suspicious links, with alarming notices such as “Dear valued customer, your Connect IPS account has been locked. Please verify to login and secure it.” These messages attempt to trick customers into clicking the link and entering their Connect IPS username and password, which are then misused for fraudulent activities.
The telecom operator has strongly advised all customers not to open such links or provide their login credentials on unverified websites. It emphasized that official information and updates are shared only through its verified social media accounts with a blue tick or its official website. Customers have been urged to rely exclusively on these trusted channels and ignore any other sources of information.
Nepal Telecom further appealed to the public to remain vigilant, noting that scams targeting digital payment systems and banking platforms have been on the rise. The company assured users that it is closely monitoring these malicious activities and encouraged subscribers to immediately report any suspicious messages they receive.
In its statement, the company expressed its commitment to safeguarding customers’ digital security and once again requested everyone to be cautious and not fall victim to online fraud.
