Kathmandu : Apple has officially unveiled its much-anticipated iPhone 17 series, introducing four models — iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a new ultra-thin variant called iPhone Air. The launch took place at Apple’s annual September event, with global availability starting from September 19.
Bigger Display and ProMotion for All
The standard iPhone 17 now features a 6.3-inch display with ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate, a feature previously limited to Pro models. Apple has also introduced stronger Ceramic Shield 2 glass, said to be three times more scratch-resistant.
Camera Upgrades
Apple has significantly improved the camera system:
• 48MP main and ultra-wide cameras on the standard iPhone 17.
• A new Center Stage 18MP front camera with auto-framing for selfies and video calls.
• The Pro and Pro Max models bring an advanced telephoto zoom system with improved optics for professional users.
Performance and Charging
The lineup debuts Apple’s A19 chip (standard) and A19 Pro chip (Pro/Pro Max), delivering faster performance with better efficiency. Battery life has improved across all models, and fast charging now supports 50% charge in about 20 minutes with higher-watt adapters.
Connectivity and Design
All models include a new N1 networking chip for faster WiFi, Bluetooth, and low-power communication. USB-C continues as the standard port.
Color choices for the iPhone 17 include Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, White, and Black.
Software: iOS 26
The iPhone 17 series runs on iOS 26, introducing enhanced photo styles, AI-driven features, and stronger privacy protections.
New ‘iPhone Air’
Replacing the earlier “Plus” idea, Apple has launched the iPhone Air — a slimmer and lighter design, targeting users who prefer portability without compromising on performance.
Global Market and Pricing
Pre-orders began on September 12, and the devices hit stores globally from September 19. Reports suggest stronger early demand for Pro models, though the standard iPhone 17 is being hailed as the “best-value iPhone” yet.
