Bajura — Areas around Khaptad Chededah Rural Municipality in the district are experiencing problems with Nepal Telecom’s network.
In particular, residents say services have been disrupted in Ward No. 6 — Naina, Sudadal and several other settlements of the rural municipality — leaving locals deprived of communication services.
Network connectivity is reportedly poor in settlements such as Naina and Sudadal. Locals said it is even difficult to make phone calls in those places.
Local resident Ramesh Bisht said the network ceases to work from the month of Asar until the first week of Asoj every year. He said, “As Nepal Telecom’s mobile network weakens, it has become difficult even to make phone calls. Routine activities such as phone calls, Internet use and SMS services have also been hampered.”
Bisht said that when people call, calls do not connect promptly, and if the call does connect, a proper conversation is often impossible. He added that the network even fails during ordinary conversations and in emergency situations.
Residents say they have repeatedly complained about the network problems, but the issue has not been resolved. Similarly, locals in Ward No. 7 of Badimalika Municipality have complained that the network does not work there either.
In the ward’s settlements — Jilli, Sunakana, Pokhara, Siradi, Rajatoli, Dhamkané and others — the network does not function well, causing calls not to connect, or, if connected, to be heard with breakage; locals said that even 4G service has been affected.
